This piece resonated with me on so many levels. Loved the Ira Glass quote. The courage section reminded me of the Roosevelt quote about being in the arena that Brene Brown cites. Thank you for sharing, and I’m subscribing.
Wow this is a great piece of writing. So much wisdom for us all. I published a post today, it’s not perfect how I want it but I decided to publish it anyway to allow the next work to flow through. 😊🙏
Hi Hayley! Thank you so much...and wonderful to read you're allowing your creativity to flow, it's amazing what comes through when we get out of our own way!
I'll also add that the word "courage" comes from the Latin "cor," which means... heart! So courage for me is leading with the heart. It's not always easy, but the heart never lies. Another thought... there comes a point in your life (usually when you realize that your time here is very limited) when you can simply not live, and write, any other way than what feels true and courageous; when you can no longer suppress the stories your heart years to tell, no matter how difficult it may be to tell them. "We tell ourselves stories in order to live," said Joan Didion. So you must write! :)

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)
A terrific article. You mentioned three of my favorite quotes about creativity, but I needed that reminder--thank you! Subscribed!
Hi Jan, so glad it resonated :) happy to have you as part of this community.
This piece moved me so much. It is a must for all creatives. (And now I secretly want to be your friend - wow, that sounds pretty creepy.) Subscribed!
Hahahaha ah Mika! We can definitely be friends, not creepy at all 💛
Hahaha making friends as adults...can be a bit vulnerable, but pushing through the resistance, the unknown, and the doubt! 😄
Terrific article, Hannah. I appreciate the mention and link to my substack. Thank you!
