Welcome,
For all my northern hemisphere folks, we are in the height of summer. Yet, I look out my window and see a film of grey cloud, and sprinkling rain covering the tarmac. It’s been like this for a few days now. But I don’t mind this kind of weather; summer rain that’s warm to the touch of skin. It also gives me a perfect excuse to stay in and read all weekend.
So, in light of this, I’d love to share what' I’m currently reading, and I’d love to know what’s currently on your TBR list this summer.
Currently on my reading pile is Lauren Groff’s,Vaster Wilds. I’ve actually almost finished this book — I’m completely eating it up. I loved Groff’s, Matrix, a novel which follows the life of a prioress who joins an impoverished abbey full of nuns as a teenager, and brings it back to life. Groff’s language is evocotive, and starkly to the point. She doesn’t romanticise in either novels. Vaster Wilds follows a young girl who escapes a colony in the throes of starvation and disease, and takes her chances surviving in the wild of an unfamiliar land. It’s gripping, raw and beautiful.
Has anyone else read any of Groff’s work or the Vaster Wilds? What did you think?
What books are you reading this summer? What would you recommend and why?

OMG!! I love love loved "Vaster Wilds"!! I was entranced by it, and yes, everything Lauren Groff writes. I wrote about it in the "Wisdom" section of this post: https://juliegabrielli.substack.com/p/talking-back-to-walden-476
After finishing "The Unmapping" (LOL), I binged the Telepathy Tapes podcast (woah!! amazing!!) and am finishing a non-fic "The Joy of Movement." After that, I can't decide between "State of Wonder," "Little Great Island," or "Tilt." Any advice?
I believe I have listened to the audio book Fates and Furies but somehow can't remember it...😂
Currently reading the excellent 11.22.63 by Stephen King. Not a King reader usually but this one got me! Here's a link to what I read this year so far
