Hi community!
Welcome to this week's Process letter, where we are delving into the intriguing and thought-provoking theme of 'quiet work'. As I mentioned in the Monday newsletter, the concept of quiet work is particularly relevant for individuals who are deeply immersed in the acts of creating and envisioning. These are the folks who engage in their craft not necessarily with the long-term goal of achieving fame or gaining widespread notoriety, but rather, they do it simply for the sheer joy and satisfaction that comes from creating with and for their community. They find fulfilment in the process itself, appreciating the subtle yet profound impact their work has on those around them, even if it goes largely unrecognized by the broader public.
I’m excited to share this week’s journal prompt and my response in video form. It’s my first video-form content, and I’m excited to share it and show my face.

Journal Prompt: What does ‘quiet work’ mean to you?
Here’s my response…
When I consider the concept of quiet work, I reflect on moments when I tend to my inner flame. This flame is not fueled by success, productivity, reaching new metrics, or ticking off goals from my to-do list. The quiet work goes much deeper than that. It originates from within me, unaffected by external factors. It is nurtured by a profound joy and passion, where my words hold no more value than my actions.
There is a sense of open space in this work, and a calmness, like the stillness of water after it has been disturbed by movement. The quiet work does not seek validation or approval; it is content to progress at its own pace—a pace that is nurturing. Its focus is on the journey, not the destination.
The quiet work invites self-reflection and extends beyond echo chambers to welcome new voices and foster conversation. It doesn't seek but rather embraces everyone with open arms. It is generous, always overflowing and ready to give. I cherish the quiet work because it helps me rediscover who I truly am, beyond the labels and pressures I impose on myself. It's a return to and a recollection of what is meaningful and genuine in my life.

I love this. I would say that, beyond creativity, this is a beautiful way of 'being' - a quiet life, a quiet way of living. A more authentic and generous state of being, so at odds with how we are expected to live now in our consumer driven, results focused society, where we are judged by false and meaningless standards. Beautiful and thought provoking writing Hannah, thank you! ❤️
